Larry the Cable Guy - Husker Fan

No, this is not a joke: Larry the Cable Guy is a Husker fan.

I wonder if the 2006 Husker teams will all adopt "Git-R-Done" as their new mottos? Personally I liked "Restore the Order" better, but I bet Stevie P the AD can make more money off of the former...

  1. I hope you don't really indulge in the Blue Collar Comedy scene...

A friend of mine offered me a free ticket to see Larry the Cable Guy over a year ago. The only thing better than the free ticket would have been staying at home instead.

I've never heard more applause at blatant racist humor in my life(for example, jumping on stage at his shadow and then saying, "Damn, I thought it was a coupla black men out to lynch me.").

He was quick to point to his Nebraska roots at the end of the show, and even pulled out a gold "N" (with the Huskers through it) he wears all the time so people know his roots. (I checked next time I saw him on Comedy Central, sure enough it's there.)

I kept thinking, "You know, Larry, that's okay - you don't need to acknowledge us..."

  2. I have watched the Blue Collar guys and honestly the only one I actually enjoyed was Ron White. Larry's popularity kinda mystifies me: are we laughing with him or at him? When he sticks to making fun of himself, he's actually really funny ("I was seeing this girl for about three weeks, until the police confiscated my binoculars...), but then he does the stuff you mentioned and my stomach turns just a bit.

Now, Mr. White? Freakin hilarious. How he got stuck with Larry and the One Joke Wonder twins (Jeff "Redneck" Foxworthy and Bill "Here's your sign" Engvall) is beyond me. Thankfully he's starting to do some solo stuff and I'll be able to enjoy his humor in a purer form. :-)

  3. Agreed! I've said that for a while - he's the ONLY one I like, and I do like him! At first I thought it was the scotch glass, but his cracks on family are hilarious.
