The Painting Project, or Why I Haven't Been Blogging Much Lately

Last weekend was the big push to get our bedroom and the bathroom in our new house repainted before the carpet was installed. As you may remember from my Facebook page, here's what we started with:

Middle Bro and I started Saturday morning by scoring that lovely border and spraying the heck out of it with that wallpaper-remover stuff. We had most all of it cleared away by lunchtime, by which time Kristin's sister and her family had also arrived. After a hearty sandwich and chips lunch we finished taping and started priming:

After the primer dried, we started on the walls - a nice brown for three, and a vibrant cranberry as an accent. Here's the first coat going on:

We finished everything but the third coat of the cranberry and the trimming by Sunday afternoon. Monday night and Tuesday morning I finished things up, completing the cranberry trimwork just before the carpet installers got to work. Here is the finished product:

All in all, I'm really happy how things turned out. Hopefully all our projects will go this well!

  2. Say, you didn't buy your house from someone named C.? Because our bedroom looked exactly the same when we bought the house. (With the addition of even pink carpet, pink doors, pink window frames and pink ceilings!)

You did a great job. Looks good!

  3. RS: uffda, that would have been overwhelming. Thankfully, the bedroom was the only really atrocious room in the house: the rest will be fine until we get to put our own stamp on them. Thanks for the compliment!
